TheLadyLion wants to learn to SCUBA dive eventually so I thought it might be a good step to teach her basic snorkeling in the pool and got some basic gear for us. I got a nice US Divers mask that fits well but in the pool I found it seeped water on my upper lip. I could clear it but it make things less fun than they should be. I dont remember ever having this problem before. Is there a better mask to choose or do I have to run a bead of bathtub caulk over my lip?
Here is a message board where someone asked the same question. Hope there’s a good answer there for you. The Deep Sea Omni mask suggestion sounded good.
When I got my mask I went to a shop with a large selection on display and tried on quite a few. I was able to find one that worked well for me. Since there are other factors besides a moustache–e.g. size and shape of head–I believe trying various designs is the best bet.
Another tip is to smear some Vaseline on your mustache. I’ve found this helps even when breath-hold diving.
You can always try one of these Neptune set-ups. But I don’t know how much you want to spend… Don’t they look fun?
How would you clear it, or equalize??
Actually the neptune would be far worse because I have a beard. Thanks for the leads. I got some good information from the posted link and will go shopping at some real dive shops.
