DLP TV question

There’s a good online deal right now for this DLP TV. I’ve been considering getting an HDTV, but I can’t quite figure out whether this TV supports 1080p. It says it has a native pixel resolution of 1920x1080, and in part of its little technobabble talks about 1080p, but then when listing its ports, only lists 1080i.
Anyone?

Thanks. (And does anyone have this model or one very similar? Thumbs up or down?)

Yes it does. The technobably part you’re seeing at the bottom indicates that the component video jacks only allow for up to 1080i. However, using the HDMI jack you’ll get up to 1080p.

I own the Samsung HLP5063W, which is the model before that - 50" version. I absolutely love it! Its cheap, displays a damn good HD picture, and haven’t had any problems with it. HD looks stunning, though the regular TV channels are par at best. Ask the salesman (if you can find one on display) to view a regular SD source and see if you can live with it. However, I just end up only watching the HD channels (and DVD’s of course).

I also have a Samsung DLP HDTV. It’s a 720p version rather than 1080p, but your experience will only be better than mine, which is a definite thumbs up. If I was ready to replace my current TV, I would definitely get what you’re getting, though I might consider a larger size if I could afford it and fit it into the room.

If you have any experience with large screen CRT (direct view or rear projection), you’ll be amazed at how lightweight this thing is. You can lift it with one hand.
