Not to mention Sanders is Jewish. Jews are generally not welcome at white supremacist conventions.
Litmus tests tend to be dumb, because with a litmus test you’re saying that this one issue is so important that it trumps everything else, and there are very few issues that are like that. I mean, I don’t agree with Bob Casey on abortions, or guns, or eyebrows, but he’s still a good Democrat and an asset to the party.
It’s stupid. Polls show that about 10% of Democrats believe that abortion should be illegal in most or all circumstances. Clearly, these are people who are willing to compromise on this issue because they more generally agree with the Democratic perspective on other issues.
Now we’re going to go out of our way to insult them and tell them they aren’t good enough to vote for us? Oy.
Who needs that deplorable 10% anyway.
He should act like a leader and preach personal responsibility instead. “Every Democrat should avoid impregnating women who don’t want to become pregnant.”
Tom Perez reminds us of the party’s priorities and why Bernie Sanders is working to overthrow the Dem establishment: On social issues, the party must be in complete agreement. On economic issues, like being cozy with Wall Street, well, there you can have some diversity of opinion.
I don’t think any single statement proves the point more than that one. Social issues have reigned supreme in the party for awhile now. The same is actually true of the GOP as well, although Trump seems to be trying to change those priorities. But he’s not the guy to do that and his own views aren’t coherent anyway except on trade and immigration(which are really the same issue).
Are the party positions better determined from the top down or from the bottom up?
