Which is exactly why they need strong leadership and a recognition by all parties that while you may not get what you want, Democrat leadership is still preferable to GOP leadership, and as such, don’t badmouth/undermine/talk out of school about your own party.
That’s one of the biggest things I see causing the Democrats trouble, and I’m speaking as an erstwhile moderate Republican. You’ve got a half-dozen different groups all demanding different things at the same time, and then being cranky when they don’t get them.
The problem is that the party can’t be everything to everyone. They’ve got to choose a short list of issues/things to champion at some point, and try to get the other people in line behind them.
I don’t know how you solve these problems- it seems like it would take a degree of hardness that the Democratic party doesn’t have, or isn’t willing to use. And part of the problem is that unlike the Republicans, their constituents are as likely to view them as the enemy as they are the Republicans.
No, but the right answer is to get up there on national TV and say “WTF is this clown talking about? Nobody eats dogs or cats. Why would he even say that?” Make that sort of rhetoric look as ridiculous, racist, and stupid as it actually is. Don’t get up there and be dignified and talk about how our Haitian friends are good Americans and don’t actually eat cats. Go and point out what an idiot the Republican is and how stupid that is, and how nobody with half a brain would believe that Haitians are eating cats. That’s where the Democrats miss their shots; they don’t attack the stupid, unscientific, fear-mongering, and general crazy stuff AS stupid, unscientirfic, fear-mongering, and crazy, they address the issues the Republicans are talking about. They need to mock the rhetoric and other politicians for being all those things, and make them laughable, not legitimate.
Following the withdrawal of President Biden on July 21, 2024, the race became an open contest to be decided at the Democratic National Convention.
Right. They lost because the voters do not understand how Inflation or Economics work, and beleived trump when he said he could end inflation with the stroke or a pen, or something similar.
No, it was more like GOP- “we can fix you, dont worry about how.” And lying about that.
The Dems “This is a difficult and complicated procedure and could take some time. Recovery chances are good, but not assured”.
I’m pretty sure this criticism accounts for the strategy being adopted by Gavin Newsom. He’s been directly mocking trump’s talking points for some time now.
Yet, somehow, we’ve spent the last sixty years with idiots saying that civil rights are special rights for minority despite clear language that those civil rights are for class and therefore apply to everyone.
Exactly; be bluntly dismissive about the sideshow.
In general I’d like the Dem politicians to move away from the PoliSci style talking points, drop the long wind-ups, and try to make their points concise and authentic. If it sounds like it was revised by a press secretary, then don’t bother.
