Could there be one nationality, ethnic group, etc., that is absent of blue eyed individuals? Esp.in Western socities? - Jinx
There are many ethicities that do not feature blue eyed people, e.g. Negoid, Aboriginal, Inuit, Anu - the list goes on and on.
Am I missing something, or is this just a really simple question ?
Most of the world’s population has brown eyes and black hair. Surely it would be easier to list those ethnicities which do feature blue eyes (and blond hair) than those which do not?
Do you mean:
(a) have all ethnic groups living in Western societies by now intermarried enough with blue-eyed ethnicities that there will be at least one member who has blue eyes? = yes, probably, although I guess it depends where you’re looking–certainly some enclaves are so insular, of such a small sample size, and such recent arrivals to the West that they will not have any blue-eyed members.
(b) do all ethnic groups, worldwide, have at least one blue-eyed member? Probably, but not certainly – I should think there would be at least one member of a non-blue-eyed society whose eyes lacked major pigmentation, due to some random mutation.
Actually, it’s fairly common for Australian Abos to have blond hair and blue eyes as youngsters (under age 10 or so). Generally, both darken as they get older. And I believe many children of other ethnicities also start off with blue eyes.
Lacking pigmentation, the default color of eyes is blue. And many children are born without eye pigmnentation.
There was a previous thread which mentioned that not all children are born with blue eyes, if you can find it.
Among sub Saharan African populations, there are partial albinos with blonde hair and blue eyes. These partial albinos are quite rare, but they do exist.
