Do any non-Americans actually like George W. Bush?

George. W. Bush ran for Congress in 1978. I read somewhere that he was hurt by appearing too intellectual. This may be hard to believe, but don’t forget he does have degrees from both Yale and Harvard.

Anyhow, what I read was that he changed his manner so as not to appear overly intellectual. I think you can see it in his speeches. I’m not talking about his mis-pronounciation of nuclear That’s just a regional abominaiton, shared byJimmy Carter, who ironically was a nuclear engineer. I’m referring to colloquial, ungrammatical phrases he throws into his speeches from time to time. Also he generally expresses his thoughts in the simplest possible terms.

lard2000, it’s too bad that you skipped the State of the Union. It was a good speech and well delivered. IMHO Bush has worked on his rhetorical skills. He’s much better at giving speeches than he was two years ago.

I read a transcript. Granted, I did miss the delivery, but it’s not like I’m completely blinded to what’s going on in the world because I don’t like the sound of his voice, as might be construed from some of the previous posts.

Anyway, I was just wondering why I thought he sounded so stupid and it was pointed out to me that this was because of my own prejudices to his policy. Fair enough, I think, it was just IMHO.

I’m just going to simply answer for myself.

No.
