Do donations to political parties have special tax status?

If I donate 1000 to the democratic party, do I get any special tax deduction or anything?

So, you want to give 1000 to save a few bucks on your taxes, by giving to the DEMOCRAT party??? Why, so they repeal the tax cut you just got?

But anyway, for your original question: No. Your contribution is not tax-deductible as a charitable contribution for Federal income tax purposes.

Donations to Political Parties, Political Action Committees and to individual canidates are not deductible for Federal Taxes. I don’t believe they are deductible for any State Taxes either, but there may be some exception.

To relate this to your other thread, political organizations are classified as 501©(2) - which is a non-exempt classification.
