If they didn’t get it they’d find out. That’s their job and they are better at it than you might imagine. But my point is that they don’t care, not that they didn’t get the joke. There is no reason to censor that joke.

But I always put it in the category of “jokes you have to catch fast”.
Like in *Clerks II, *at the beginning, when the burger sign advertises the “King of the Juice” breakfast special.

Exactly. To put it another way, if the joke “*somehow *made it past the censors”, don’t you think there’d have been complaints about it? It’s been reaired a trillion times since then, and no one has raised enough ruckus to put a stop to the filth that is a vague allusion to the word “fuck”? No - because while there most likely have been complaints, no one CARES.
I didn’t get it either, without the spoiler. And I tend to make lame ass puns and word plays.

I agree with this. I suppose I also agree with the person who said that, since it’s a Simpson’s joke, it’s just wildly funny (can you hear the sarcasm in my voice?) but if you saw it on the side of the road it would fly right by.
And I guess because I am familiar with the name Sneed from Sam Snead, that makes me too old to have all Simpson’s jokes and their original dates of broadcast memorized.
Yeah. It’s really too bad the Simpsons writers didn’t have a humorist of your caliber to help them. That little show could have made it if they had just a couple really funny people on the staff to help write the jokes.
I thought I got it, but I didn’t. I thought it was just an absurd ending to the name, like “Poetic Name, formerly Not Poetic”. I thought it was similar to “Dr. Gizmo’s Magical Construction Implement Emporium! (formerly Bob’s Hardware)”

When I read the OP I went back and forth trying to determine if the entire phrase was to be replaced by Chuck or just the first word, and for either solution it seemed like I was missing some background to understand the joke. After reading the spoiler it seemed indirect but for no purpose, which made it not funny (to me).
After reading about the Simpson’s stuff, it really changes the whole thing. Understanding they are trying to get stuff past the censors makes it pretty funny, within that context only.

Even when reminded that it was a Simpson’s reference, and then even when remembering that very episode that I’ve probably seen no fewer than 10 times, I still didn’t get it. I never realized it was a joke when seeing it on the Simpsons, and it took reading several posts on this thread to even see what the joke was.
I think that the joke per se is having gotten it past the censors. Maybe I have Asperger’s, because taken on its own, it’s not really funny to me.
I said “the joke”. The first time I heard it, the teller (possibly my spouse) had to pause, then prompt me with “Chuck’s fffffffffffffff” before the light dawned on me.
I got the joke the first time I saw it, which was on the Simpsons episode, and I thought it was funny. The fact that it was a very subtle little joke in the background made it more funny to me. I like jokes that make you think a little bit, only to kick yourself at how simple they are when you realize the answer. Of course if you don’t come to the conclusion of the joke yourself, and someone has to explain it to you it’s not going to be as funny.
Since you mentioned it, could you explain why you think it “got past the censors”? Why do you think the censors would have had it removed if they saw it?
