It wasn’t until after I returned O Brother that it occurred to me to count how many policemen were in that scene. A friend counted them when she rented the flick. There were eight cops… plus the relative who turned them in. So Our Heroes had to choose between a whirlpool of fire or a nine-headed lynch mob. Get it? Where’s Scylla when you need her?
Good catch, B.A. (not Baracus). I hadn’t caught that one.
It was almost easy to toss Clooney into the almost-made-it-and-now-he’s-a-joke bin, based on his first couple of high-profile movie choices after leaving “E/R” (Batman and Robin, anyone?). Luckily for him, he wised up quickly, and now he’s officially a Gen-Yoo-Wine Movie Star in the old-time (e.g. Gary Cooper) tradition. Like DoctorJ sez, you can’t look away, and you don’t really want to, either.
Intelligent, good-looking, a nice guy, and talented enough to make the package work for him. What more does anybody want?
P.S. Ocean’s 11 is gonna kick ass.
