I figure that when a member becomes so well recogized based on the amount of topics they make, that can’t be an altogether good thing.
This has even happened to ME twice before…where I’d start to recognize a dopers name in connection with the topics they made. One of these, in the more negative category, was Roland Deschain, who many will remember.
The other, but not in a bad way, is START, who I find always has interesting topics and invokes one to think often.
However, I do think it could be annoying to other posters if one makes topics often or a lot of them…which is why I’m asking about myself.
Self admitted, I make a lot of topics. I don’t reply much to topics (save for when they’re my own), because reading large amounts of typing online tends to make my eyes hurt and ache after awhile (awhile being, about 20 minutes), so I don’t feel like I can contribute much by way of replying to other topics. Therefore I contribute by way of making topics instead. I figure, well, I have a paid subscription (not by my own money either, it was kindly donated by someone who I’m very grateful for) and so therefore I don’t want to just waste it.
And I DO read topics. A great many of them. What I do, instead of reading them on here, on the computer, is print them out and read them offline. And I do a lot of printing, trust me. I print out a good 200 to 300 pages a day (which I then recycle, of course).
So I do read other topics and have read many histories of topics on here. I just don’t reply that much. I make topics more or less.
So the point of this topic is asking the members here if they’ve noticed the topics I’ve made and what they think of them, as sort of a feedback thing. I know of a lot of lurkers here and not only that, but even non-lurkers who may read my topic and file an opinion on it but not publically say anything. So this topic is for you and anyone else who wishes to share theirs. Do you think I make too many topics? Are they annoying? Any feedback you wish to share would be taken in stride.
I was once pitted (not for making too many topics, however the pitter did throw that in there as a point) where it was mentioned…so I figured: Hey, if many others secretly share the same thoughts, I figure I’d ask about it and, if it’s the case, calm down a bit on it.
Feedback? Love them? Hate them? Indifferent? Don’t know who I am?
