"Do I make you a little horny? Well strip down and get naked!"

Limbaugh jumps in:

That’s ridiculous in so many ways, I’m not even gonna pick one or two. It speaks for itself.

Limbaugh jumps in

Left out the link, doggonit.

Does anyone still really listen to that junkie anymore?

His Vicodin dealers, maybe.

I wonder if Limbaugh is even aware of the hypocrisy inherent in his own blathering somments. He first makes a loud suggestion that this kid was in on a conspiracy to “se Foley up,” then in the next breath, he goes on to lament the imagined lack of “concern for the children” on the part of Democrats.

Does he even realize he just smeared the victim?

It’s been a Talking Point since the weekend. Drudge was the first one to spew it, then the rest of the Rightie mouthpieces lapped it up.

Have they invoked the idea that congress is a behavioral sink for Republicans yet?

The Republicans are really trying to hang this on the Democrats. The WSJ says it is liberals fault because we are too tolerant of gays, Ben Stein said the same thing, so did Newt Gingrich.

Katherine Harris wants an investigation on who in the Democratic party knew about this and kept it from the Republicans (WTF?!) and Rush and Drudge say Democrats set Foley up (kind of like Marion Barry’s “the bitch set me up”).

Given how well they work the machine, how complacent the media is, and how little may voters pay attention, I think they very well might suceed. I think you’ll see some of the party hacks on these boards spouting some combination of the above arguments before the week is out.

Voters will pay attention because the scandal involves sex. It’s ridiculous that this might be what brings about political change in our country–not the war, not encroachments on civil liberties, not bigotry against homosexuals, not the health care crisis–but that’s how our country works.

Nobody ever went broke overestimating the prurience of the American public.

I hate to say it, but it looks like the Pubbies were right; sex makes a marvelous cudgel with which to batter your political opponents. If we had known the Pubs were more morally dissolute than we are, we would have employed it sooner. That’s what we get for believing their glurge about family values.

I think it should be said in all fairness that not all the usual conservative pundits have shown themselves as hypocrites and moral frauds in this case. I happened to catch a bit of Michelle Malkin on Fox New yesterday talking about the foley scandal. I was braced for the worst but you could have knocked me over with a feather when she not only went right after Hastert but also the Republicans in general for trying to spin their way out of it. She specifically criticized the tu quoque tactics and said the party had to confront this and deal with it as their own problem if they wanted to preserve any moral credibilty. I was amazed. She wasn’t trying to spin anything at all.

Then they said Ann Coulter was going to on shortly so I changed the channel. I wanted to quit while I was ahead.

I started to write a post parodying Ann Coulter’s style, but I can’t bring myself to do it. She’s that vile.

Daniel

Apparently there is some stuff so filthy that even a Republican won’t wallow in it.

Is he saying that Foley was a closet Democrat too?

And wring, I don’t get your point about Chandra Levy.

It IS amazing if this is what brings down the Republicans, as opposed to the party’s support of legal torture, erosion of human rights and civil liberties, a tragic, misguided war, etc., as Left Hand said.

Sadly, I wouldn’t be too astonished if it comes out that there were a Democrat or two who knew about Foley but thought “there but for the grace of God, go I” and were afraid the binocs would swing in their direction next if it all came out. What makes it even so much worse for the Republicans is the hypocracy, with that party loving to spout “family values” and all the anti-gay rhetoric.

And one of their own, head of the center for exploited children no less, being found out as an old closeted chicken hawk.

Gah! Andrew Sullivan picks up on a weird twist: Foley and the Super Adventure Club (aka Scientology).

What nobody realizes is that poor Mark Foley was only trying to play matchmaker, setting up young Republican pages with dates with the daughters of the Majority Leader. That’s why he kept telling them he wanted to see them with a Boehner!

<throws stuff at Polycarp >
That whole Limbaugh bit made me sick. They will stop at nothing. I wonder how many GOPers* will notice this and start to (finally) think, hey-what is up with Rush?
I won’t hold my breath.
*like my MIL who thinks he speaks truth.
I got an odd phone call yesterday. It was a guy named Ernie from the RNC (my husband is a registered Rep) wanting to know if I supported the party. I repeated his question and asked if he meant me. He corrected himself and said he meant my husband.

I had the joy of informing Ernie that my husband has become Libertarian and that I am a Democrat. He hung up faster than I did.

Made me pause…

What the slippery fuck ???

This just keeps getting better

The guy interrupted a vote to go have a cyberwank with a high school kid? And the GOP leadership knew all about this guy? Unbelievable. What a gift for the Dems.
