Just for the record, in Quebec (don’t know about the rest of Canada) a notary is a kind of minor league lawyer. More than a paralegal, less than a lawyer. They specialize in real estate transactions and wills. A will drawn up by a notary is registered with the college of notaries and when you go it is automatically applied unless there is a later will.
