I’ve developed an affinity for Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy and Lemon Berry Shandy beer. Is my assumption correct that it is not available year-round? If not, anyone know for how much longer it will be on the shelves?
In DC, I see it often, maybe not year round, but almost.
I don’t drink Leine’s, but I know from living in Milwaukee Summer Shandy is only available in Summer and the Berry one is just a flavored Shandy. If you like them that much, grab a few extra cases for yourself.
Actually, I take that back. Their website says that the berry shandy is available year round. But for Lemon Shandy is March Through August. Go Figure.

I don’t know. It is very much a warm-weather drink. But I live in New England and not southern California, so YMMV.
Summer shandy is such a terrible abomination of a beer (even compared to other leinenkugel offerings) that you should have some luck picking up cheap cases of fire sale beer at the end of the season. Ask a Miller/Coors sales rep if they know of any fire sale outlets near you. Typically they’re large liquor stores on the edge of town that crank through a few hundred cases a week and the distributor will sell them close-dated product for $5-10/case. They then mark these cases up a few dollars each and sell through them quickly to bring customers through the doors.
All they have here in Berkeley is the Summer Shandy, and it’s not my favorite. If they had the Cream Stout or Honey Weiss, I’d be buying a few cases, you betcha.
Or consider mixing your favourite beer 1:1 with lemonade.
I myself do not like the beer, but one of my favorite local bars in Chicago is promoting it as a seasonal and they do plan to discontinue carrying it on tap within a few weeks.
The Leinies website says that Lemon Berry Shandy is available year-round, but Summer Shandy is available May-August only. So you’ll want to stock up on the latter.
My gf likes to take Summer Shandy on the pontoon. When I went to buy a case today they were sold out. I was told it goes quickly.
They’ve started advertising it heavily here in California in the last six months. Considering they’re going national, I don’t expect it to be seasonal.
