Try to follow this (Im doing this on win98). START button then PROGRAMS ACCESSORIES SYSTEM TOOLS SYSTEM INFORMATION, then in this window click the TOOLS tab and scroll down to SYSTEM CONFIGURATION UTILITY then in this window click the SARTUP tab. Yikes. Now you can uncheck the windows of the things you dont want to automatically start up with the computer.
Im sure there is a shorter way to get there but I dont know it.
Me works fine for me. I would put XP on only if it has drivers for everything. Or use Partition Magic 8 which lets you have more than one OS on the computer so you can test XP too. I think that XP gives you a mulitple OS option if it detects you have one already?
