Forget morality, with Jews, it is even wierder - in that the religion in effect holds out no rewards whatsoever for, well, being Jews. Non-Jews who follow the basic Noahide laws can be just as righteous as Jews.

Well, thanks for the nitpik. I guess isee your point, however, I think Christina for the most part have been told the same or a similar story. The happy heaven with you playing a harp on a cloud, or the miserable, hot Hell, where you go to sweat off your evil for eternity.

We are directed to leave this earth better than we find it. Because it is the right thing to do. Because it makes life here and now better. It makes us good people today and now, to act as good people today and now.

I certainly hope my kids and friends and family do the right thing now, not out of fear of punishment or promise of reward, but because it is the what makes this world better for all of us to live in.
