Do pop-up adds work?

Do pop-up ads really work? I know they are so annoying that if I remember a product on one of them I will definitely avoid buying anything from that company.

Anyone have any statistics on just how many people buy products from seeing a pop-up ad?

Are there any movements to boycott companies who use pop-up ads?

There are a lot of programs out there to block pop-up ads these days, so a boycott is probably not necessary (or possible).

I’d say they work perfectly - if their intent is, as I assume it must be, to annoy the living crap out of anyone who tries to use the frickin’ internet.

Yes, they do work. I was really annoyed when my dad bought an X10 Cam. I looked at him and said “Well, they won”

I believe sales for the X10 were through the roof. They wouldn’t do the ads if they didn’t work.

JoeyP:

Well, did he at least see any seductive women using it, as their ads seem to indicate? (“Perfect for security!”…cut to image of little flirt in Catholic school uniform, definite security risk.)

Yeah…they make it look like a starter kit for your own online internet voyuer site…hell, I couldn’t get pics of any babes like that unless I hooked the X-10 up to a friggin’ telescope or something…

As for the OP…I never have clicked on a pop-up. But then I’m not in the market for any of the crap they are selling.
