Do rotten personalities eventually pay for it?

His imdb listing is interesting. Clearly, The Saint hurt pretty badly, and he didn’t do live action for another two years.

However, his entire imdb listing has 43 items, and The Saint is #23, meaning that he’s had more work in the 8 years since than the 12 years prior.

Just to point out that it hasn’t been all B-Movie crap, he’s done big-budget movies like The Red Planet and Alexander, as well as the more artsy fare considered at Oscar time like Pollock.

And I loved him in Wonderland. (Great movie!)

Kinda like, oh, Tom Cruise or someone.

Cruise has gone off the deep end a little lately, but when I met him on the set of “Top Gun”, he was a nice guy.

I was in the Navy in the mid 80’s and got a chance to be an extra in “Top Gun” and “Hunt For Red October” and “Flight of the Intruder”. In that capacity, I got to meet many actors, including Tom Cruise, Anthony Edwards, Meg Ryan, Tom Skerritt, Alec Baldwin, Sean Connery, James Earl Jones, Danny Glover and (drumroll) Val Kilmer.

Kilmer was the only one who was an ass. I met him in a bathroom of all places. He was combing his hair in the mirror and I told him that I had enjoyed his work in “Top Secret”, a spy movie parody. He said nothing and gave me a dismissive sneer and walked out. As he approached the door I said “You’re a dick, aren’t ya pal?”.

Is there any cite for this claim? Not that I don’t believe you…I just like to read about jerks…especially when they’re on my “favorites” list.

One aspect of having a poor reputation is that filmmaking is a collaboritive business. You have to find other people to work with. Granted, if you’re a big box office draw, they’re will always be somebody willing to work with you. But in Hollywood, no matter how big you are there’s always someone else who’s bigger.

So if you get a reputation for being difficult, you’ll find that Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts and Clint Eastwood don’t want to cast you in their new movie. And they’ve got enough clout of their own to make it stick. Certain doors will be shut.

I’m not so sure about that. IMDB shows her as being on Letterman in 87 and 93. Since then “as herself”, she boasts 3 appearances on Howard Stern: no more Leno/Letterman/O’Brien. Her TV appearances since then include Reno 911. Not that is bad - it just seems realllllllllly minor to me. I haven’t seen the movies she’s done or have any memory of her performance in her movies going back to Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994).

Looks to me like she shot herself in the foot big time.
