Recently I bought the latest Tool CD, 10,000 Days. When I got home, I noticed for the first time that the CD was manufactured by Sony. Drat…if I knew that, I would have downloaded it instead. Oh well, I guess Tool is a band that’s successful enough to actually earn a decent royalty (like, 50 cents per CD, as opposed to the 8-10 cents most artists get, nearly all of which gets swallowed up by production costs, promo videos, advertising, and all the other extras that the record labels insist the artist pay for…but I digress.)
We all know about the infamous rootkit scandal where it was discovered that Sony’s putting malicious, hidden software on their CDs. Does anyone know if they still do that? The Tool CD, in particular…I’m afraid to let it anywhere near my computer, let alone stick it in the CD Rom drive!!
