I don’t follow football. But, recently the thought hit me: Can the Browns have a mascot? If so, what would it be? What is it, really? - Jinx
They have four dogs that are mascots.
The Browns were named after coach Paul Brown.
There’s also "Big Dawg, pictured here without the dog mask - he’s a huge enough fan he might as well be the mascot: http://www.mikesplacerestaurant.com/BROWNS%20BACKERS.htm
The cuddly, furry puppies that are noted in JeffB’s post are simply the latest attempt to continue (with souvenir revenue) the tradition of “The Dawgs” (Dixon and Minnifield) from the early 1980s that led to the bleachers being called the “Dawg Pound” and, eventually, Big Dawg and his fellow nutcases. (I say that in the BEST way.)
The original “mascot” (although he appeared mostly in newspaper illustrations accompanying stories about upcoming games and I don’t recall him actually appearing on the sidelines as a mascot), was a genuine, elf-like brownie. (Think of the brownies of Palmer Cox, not little girls with cookies and merit badges.)
