Do they still do those Scholastic book clubs things?

WOAH! You just gave me a blast from the past… Something I havn’t thought of since 1995 or so when I was in 5th grade…

Not the girly locket thing or whatever, it was some sort of checklist book thing that everyone had to have from the fair. I honestly can’t remember what its topic was. It had a red cover.
And I vaguely remember trading something for a joke dictionary about elementary school. All very very nice and p.g. jokes… Showed it to a lady, Mrs. Branch, I think her name was, that was the lady that blew the whistle and kept the kids from fighting outside… She opened up to the page that made fun of the voice of the principal over the loudspeaker and yelled at me for making fun of nice Mr. Clark.
Woah… flashback there. That and I remember browsing the shelves when some of the books came in you could choose from, lord knows how that worked, I know my parents wouldn’t send me to school with like 10 bucks, I’d spend it on candy or something…
Is there someplace where all the old scholastic catalogs are listed? I remember they were of very very light crappy paper, just a couple steps above tissue paper used for gifts and such…
Well /end trip down elementary school memory lane.

Thanks for that weird flashback.

IIRC they still do… some time ago I remember seeing a reference to it in a newspaper.

And I remember it too… the buttons were a big deal (though years later I was annoyed when I realized the artery clogging fast food giant was giving away 40 cents worth of raw material to whoever showed up with a kid that would get hooked for life on the product as well as selling the parents on a large pie…)

on edit… yup they do.

I just found all of my old Book It pins when I moved. I usually ended up having the pin filled within a few weeks.

The Scholastic Book Fairs and catalogs were my favorite part of elementary school. I would have a huge list of books picked out before I made it home from school.
