Do trees reverse their lifecycle once they pass a certain age?

Ok this sounds like complete baloney, but I just wanted to confirm this.
A logger told me that once a tree passes a certain age, it stops producing Oxygen and starts producing toxic gases like…I don’t know Carbon dioxide or something???

Is there anything remotely true about this statement. We have mainly Cedar and Douglass fir around here in case there is something peculiar about these species of tree.

Nah, your logger friend was barking up the wrong tree.

IIRC, don’t plants reverse the photosynthesis cycle at night by metabolizing oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide?
