Do Vitamins Work? If so, how well?

They talk about sunlight, but that’s not really useful pretty much anywhere in Canada. We’re so far north that for about 7 months of the year, the sunlight it too weak and it’s too cold out for anyone to get enough vitamin D. I’ve had about 4 lecturers in a row (including an osteoporosis specialist) tell us to supplement vitamin D. As the link says, though, they say only about 2000 IU is really necessary. The standard recommendation we get is 1000 IU/day from March - October, and 2000 IU/day from October - March
