I have always wondered what it is about our general appearance that gives us away for where we came from. Somehow our history is indelibly written across our faces. Is it our eyes? Our expression" the wrinkles we develop? How others see us can be a real life changer. I remember in the second grade my best friend was a little nerdy genius kid, he invited me over to his house one day to show me some projects he was working on, while I was in the garage I heard his mother yell at him for bringing trash like me to the house. His father interjected and said I was Troy’s bodyguard and she should tolerate me as I would protect their son.
Looking back that was a life changing moment for me, I felt I needed to hang with kids from my own block after that. I have never been able to figure out why that “tough guy” look seemed to hang on me all my life. I see the look on successful boxers wearing $2,000 suits and manicured nails and hair, they own that look. At 64 years old I still get this and it really bugs me, not long ago I was at the supermarket buying some ingredients for a cheesecake, the girl in front of me at the checkout station commented how odd it was that a tough guy liked to cook cheesecakes.
Has anyone ever studied exactly what that look is? And more importanly how we can loose it or change it?
