One of the few paranoias I don’t understand or agree with is tracking of users by their IP address. The only way I could see myself caring is if I was involved in HEAVY criminal activity, in which case I will communicate with The Jackal via encrypted IMs/new webmail account/PC to PC VOIP over the TOR network while using a free VPN on a coffeeshop’s free wifi in a crowded mall.
But otherwise who cares really? Oh no google knows what my IP searches for! Well me and all my family…and all my nephew’s horny teen friends(the IE cache on the communal PC was mindblowing:eek:) AND the neighbors if I’m feeling generous and open the router momentarily. Now even if you limit it to me, I search on all kinds of random physical and mental health info so good luck figuring which I suffer from and which are curiosity. Good luck guessing what religion I am, if any. Porn? Are you kidding me who cares. I’m imagining a very cold eyed man threatening to expose to the world that I searched for gigantic clit videos, oh no! :dubious:
Why should I be terrified of the fact that google knows that on 11/01/2011 at 3:27am 123.12.123.1 searched for “what does menstrual fluid taste like”, assuming I don’t live under a dictatorship or am an extremely prudish person mortified at the thought of a google employee knowing that?
