Tsk, tsk, tsk, cynical, cynical people. Where’s your sense of romance, of magic, of chemistry, of pheromones?
Lust at first site is easy. I think we all have had that one. Then the woman or guy starts talking and the illusion is shattered. There are also other things that are mistaken for love aside from lust, like desperation, escape, intimidation, infatuation.
Love-at-first-sight does not implicitly mean you will have a long, long relationship, or even ANY relationship. It probably is closest to infatuation, and in it’s best form is mutual. I think what happens is if it continues on without wearing off, no matter how loudly the objet d’amour belches or farts, perhaps, then, just perhaps, it’s true love. If the love-of-your-life then returns the feeling, it can only blossom further. (Ok, I’m a terrible romantic).
With bec for me it wasn’t love at fisrt sight, mostly because I’ve been rather romatically bruised and going through a horrendous divorce after an abusive marriage (long story). I kept going with her because I found her fascinating, extrememly easy to talk to, and incredibly adorable. Add to that she’s a supreme geek, and well, it was love, I just wasn’t ready to admit it. I have since then, though, and have been fabulously happy.
For those who say there’s no such thing I say a resounding “FIE!” It just hasn’t happened to you yet.
Just you wait …
