It’s July 7. Judging from the the volume and the direction of the sound, someone is using the field at the elementary school as their own artillery range.
And it’s all just booms. You’d think they could set off an aerial display and at least put on a show for us.
There’s a pro show that goes off from a golf course just beyond my balcony. We get a ringside seat w no crowds & no cost. Lucky us.
Anyhow, the show kicked of as scheduled at 9pm on a good weather night. From experience I knew to expect about 20 minutes. Five minutes in, after one bout of low little bursts, the show went dead.
About 10 minutes later there were 3 or 4 single launches maybe 30 seconds apart. Somehow that had the feel of somebody clearing some tubes by manually lighting fuses on the stuff that might have been triggered by the computer, but had misfired / non-fired. Sounds like nervous work.
Another 10 minutes go by then the show picks up where it left off at the normal pace / intensity and we had 15 minutes of ooohs, and ahhhs, booms and crackles.
I’ve done that before. Depends whether it’s a computer show or hand fired (the ones where you see the guys walking around with road flares). Hand fired are easy, just duck low & stick your arm out; wired shows you may need to hook up new wires to create the spark. In either case, keep all body parts clear of the tube & one should be okay. You just may not have the short delay in order to get away from it after lighting like normal
