Do you crack yourself up?

I usually do this as I’m walking down the hall at work, which tends to make the people walking opposite me think that I’m laughing at them. Fools. I wait until I get back to my desk for that.

I may as well make someone laugh, dammit.

I never knew how much I laughed at Mephisto until I started working with a partner who pointed it out to me.

Usually I laugh, when I think up some sly clever word play, or subtle joke.

Sometimes, though, I just don’t get it.

When I think of the reaction on my supervisors’s previously dead serious face whe she told be to 'Make use of my down time and read throught this policy manual.: CA THUD !!!went the6 inch binder. I looked at her and said , "No, I’m not dong that ’
“WHAAa…You, youre not?” She said w/ head cocked to the side, and a deer- in-the-head-lights gaze.
"NO. That’s silly, " I said. I know where the book is if I ever have a question. I’m not doing that…
Total silence, total blank stare. I was waiting for her to run off screaming>>>>>>>>She’s not a drone, help me!!

The story I remember heariing from a friend about how she just had surgery and was high on percocet. She lives in an apt by Pentagon on 9/11. Heard about it and NY , looked out her window, said shit look at the smoke and fire trucks, and went right back to sleep.

I’ll make jokes that only I seem to find funny. Sometimes being in a room full of people with you bellowing in mirth while they just sit there silent is rather disconcerting.

And then there are time when I’m all by my lonesome and I’ll recall something that I find funny and laugh, though it’s not the most common occurance for me.

I have a very weird sense of humor and an imagination that wanders like a drunken old man. Thus, I crack myself up. I do have the decency to keep it down and try to avoid doing it around other people, though.

I cracked myself up while on hold for my credit card company. I got to thinking how funny it would be to surreptitiously replace the “on hold” music most customer support centers subject us to. So, no more Carpenters, Air Supply, or Christopher Cross. Here were a few of my ideas:

Rape Me – Nirvana
Fat Bottom Girls – Queen
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath – Black Sabbath
Gary’s Got A Boner – Replacements

Picturing my mom being forced to listen to 45 minutes of the Sex Pistols while on hold had me rolling.

Me, too.

I live alone, and will often sit up in bed laughing uncontrollably over a fleeting funny thought I had as I was drifting off to sleep.

I do it at work, too. My coworkers just ignore it.

Oh, yes, I do this.

It takes so long to explain what I’m laughing at to others, as I have to take them through the whole train of thought.

You bet; I’m the funniest person I know.

Absolutely. Sometime something will strike me as odd and I’ll burst out in uncontrollable laughter. Still other times I laugh at something for so long after the joke is over that no one else is laughing at the joke, maybe my reaction to it if anything. No one else in my family is like this- my youngest sister used to spontaneously crack up when she was younger, but not so much anymore.

I often times whoosh myself.

Sometimes though I’ll awke up just cracking up at a joke I’ve told myself that I’ve never heard before and is really funny. My wife will say “Okay, tell me”, we’ll both laugh and then go back to sleep.

My humor tends to come in little flurries though. For a couple of days I’ll just have funny stuff pop right and left into mind and then for awhile nothing.

Oh god yes, thats me.

Most recently in the middle of a very serious council meeting. I’m sitting quitely off to the side taking the minutes and suddenly this stray thought pops into my head and I start laughing and trying not to all at the same time. They actually stopped the meeting to ask me what was so funny. Most embarrasment.

I thought I was the only one! Sometimes I think of something funny from a TV show or a movie I watched earlier, and just start bursting into laughter. My friends think I’m crazy.

Nice to know I’m in good company.

It’s not that I’m so funny - I do, though, have sudden reminisces of funny moments from the past that give me a snort. My business partner of many, many years told me about halfway through that she’d finally gotten used to my unexplained expressions of mirth.
