I work for Family Features. Of course I have the lowest job (typing numbers into a computer), but that’s not the point. We supply recipe pages and home and garden pages for newspapers–mostly small American ones, but some larger papers and some Canadian papers too.
It’s Wednesday, which is when a lot of newspapers run their food pages. I kind of want to know if anyone ever actually uses our recipes, so check your recipe page for “courtesy of Family Features” and tell me if any of it looks appetizing. I get so sick of looking at those food pictures that I can’t tell anymore.
Ve-e-e-e-e-ry interesting! I guess I could register and find out for myself, but is that free content just the copy, or can I download the whole layout?
If the content is free, how is Family Features making a profit? (Sure, their costs are minimal, since they’re paying you slave wages, but the money has to come from somewhere!)
I’ll keep an eye out for the Family Features credit.
This page displays logos of your “advertising partners” or whatever they call themselves. It’s what I got when I clicked the “client list” link in hopes that it would lead me to a roster of publications which subscribe to Family Features. My hometown paper (the Lafayette Journal & Courier) runs most of its recipes in Monday’s Food section. The accompanying articles generally have bylines and/or wire service credits appended, though. I don’t recall seeing any cooking instructions which specified Campbell’s soup or Heinz ketchup among the ingredients.
