Do You Ever Wonder What The Politicians Are Getting Away With?

After having so much scandal in Illinois I keep wondering, OK so these guys got caught.

But what about the ones (from local to national level) who AREN’T getting caught because they aren’t doing big enough things, or are too smart or there just with the right party at the right time.

I am truly starting to wonder just what politicians (of all parties) are getting away with?

I always figured the solution to such a situation is extreme punishment, non-pardonable. Of course, the burden of proof would have to be just as great. I’d hate to have a politicized search into finding out if maybe, just maybe, this might or that might be true, conspiracy theories and such. I’m not talking about personal issues either. Mr. Craig, do whatever you want. And if its illegal to solicit for it, then pay your ticket and get voted out by a public that finds your actions objectionable.

But the cut and dry “Said politician was caught in a wiretap selling a seat or threatening to pull funds if someone didn’t contribute or took ‘gifts’ that amounted to many thousands of dollars from lobbyists”…

I’m not talking life. I’m talking minimum sentences depending on the severity of the crime. Minimum of a decade.

Put the number 10 in their minds when they think about free trips and additions on the house literally “on the house”.

Nowadays if you’re in the right party and you’re involved in a scandal you score a fifty-fifty chance of getting a get out of jail free card. How many people out there committed minor crimes in their younger years and still have to write them down on job applications that do background checks fifteen or twenty years later because they just didn’t know the right people?

Wanna do summ’in’ 'bout it?

Locally, there was a guy who was a county commissioner for one term. Quit because he was fed up with all the blatant corruption. People (mainly developers) were coming to him all the time to suggest ways of making money “the old fashioned way”.

He found no one in law enforcement interested in nailing them. Said they didn’t have enough “proof” to procede with an investigation. (Apparently never heard of hidden cameras.)
