Straight male - Not especially.
Bisexual female checking in.
Yes, especially if it’s done in an androgynous or “gender fuck” kind of way. Women with short hair dressed in such a way that you’re left unsure if you’re looking at a woman or a “pretty boy”, men wearing makeup, corsets, etc (sort of a David Bowie, glam rock vibe in general). That uncertainty and seeing a person without seeing a gender tends to pique my interest.
Of course, what features attract me usually aren’t strongly associated with gender. The only exception is when I’m wowed by short, extremely curvy girls–that’s a look not well-mimicked by genetic males.
I dated a cross dresser in college. Nice guy, but the sex was boring and after a while disconcerting. In this case it approached being a fetish, though – either the whole evening had to be conducted such that he could wear those clothes (so we had to stay in) or else he would stop abruptly somewhere in the early stages of getting it on to go change clothes. Since I was at that moment mostly busy removing clothes, this need to put some on got rather old.
It was a little like dating anybody who always wants to do it in one particular way, it’s okay (the worst sex I ever had was still pretty good) but not particularly inspiring. After awhile I did get sort of the feeling that I was just another prop in the drama that was his sex life, which was ultimately with himself. (Which really he could have done with much less trouble without involving me at all)
But that might have just been him, maybe for some people cross dressing really is liberating and broadening. For him it was limiting and that seemed to me a shame. I liked him quite well otherwise, both while we were dating and after.
ETA: Sorry, straight female
Straight female, with some attraction to women.
No for men. I just don’t find it sexy.
Yes for women. I find drag kings very hot. I dated a woman for about 6 months and she was so cute in a boyish way, and I had a few dates with a woman who was very masculine looking. I like the gender-fuck thing CaerieD mentioned, but it’s not a driving force in my sexual agenda. I like to look, but don’t really feel the need to touch.
Gay male and no. not at all.
Straight woman.
No, no, a thousand times no.
Oddly enough, just learned yesterday that a man I know has decided he’s a “transgendered person” and is going to have a sex change. Ordinarily I would feel compassion and all kinds of other good feelings for a suffering fellow human - or human fellow - but this guy is such a *poseur *and such a lazy waste of skin that it just irks me and makes me want to smack him upside the head.
Not only that, he’s gonna make one UGLY woman. Six foot 2 and built like a truck. At Halloween last year (2007) he showed up dressed in a red strapless number and high heels. Words fail me.
(Not meant for all transgendered persons, you understand. Just this particular one.)
Straight female, and no, absolutely not. If my SO put on women’s clothes at home, it would be for a joke, and we no doubt would collapse into laughter. It would be so far out of character for him to wear women’s clothes outdoors that I would seriously worry about him - what happened? Is he sick?
Straight male, and sure. Victor/Victoria, anyone?
Straight female and I love gender bending. I don’t really want to see a man in full drag but long hair and eyeliner (think Glam rock) is extremely hot!
I think it’s a Libran thing ![]()
Mostly straight woman. I don’t like guys doing drag to the point of minstrelsy, but just wearing a woman’s dress? That can be very hot (think: David Bowie, Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight).
I find women who butch it up attractive, but they’ve got to be high-end drag kings (a nice tux rather than b-boy wear) and I prefer if they retain some elements of traditional femininity– lip gloss, cleavage, something. There was a Sex and the City episode where Charlotte got done up like a Drag King for an art show. Very hot.
Sure. I’m into 30s and 40s vintage, and more women wear the men’s stuff than men. (One reason: the average man’s sizes are hella expensive.)
I’m not bisexual, but I love the androgynous look. The more androgynous, the better. It’s a certain balance. I don’t like full on drag-queen look. If a man can pull off make-up, a cute little skirt, and heels, without wearing a wig or anything that’s over the top, then I love it. I was at a halloween party once, and a tall, slender guy came in wearing a leather mini and a leather corset. I wanted to follow him around all night. In a related note, I find that famous scene with Marlene Dietrich in Morocco to be one of the most erotic things I have ever seen.
That sums up my (straight male) opinion as well.
I do have a “thing” for women with really short hair but not if the overall effect is mannish.
Straight male. What exactly are we talking about here?
Are we talking about something similar to that episode of Sex and the City that **Cat Fight **mentioned? Then no. That just leaves me confused and bewildered. Same with a very believable transvestite. It’s disconcerting in an ‘uncanny valley’ sort of way. I’m looking at something that appears to be a man or a woman, but is just a bit ‘off’.
A woman wearing the uniform of a traditionally masculine role can be pretty hot though. Like the NYPD has a couple of pretty cute lady cops milling about in Times Square every now and then. Or Miranda Otto in her Rohan armor disguise in Return of the King.
I don’t know if that’s what the OP is looking for though, as they are obviously women dressed in women-sized uniforms.
In college, my GF used to put on my fraternity cap and one of my 90s plaid shirts and walk around going “look at me…I’m msmith537…look how cool I am.” in the “duh” voice girls use to immitate how their man talks. That was kind of hot, but it might just be because I’m in love with myself.
Straight female.
To the OP, it depends on what you mean by “cross-dressing”. A certain degree of androgyny / gender-bending can be quite appealing on the right person; full-on drag doesn’t work unless the guy is so spectacular that he’s still hot in anything whatsoever.

I hate it. I find “sexy” pictures of women in men’s briefs and button-down shirts to be a major turn-off.
Joe
Straight female…I must admit I find Eddie Izzard pretty freaking sexy when he’s dressed like a woman. But then, I find the man damn sexy when he’s dressed like a man, too.
Straight man.
I’m more a fan of ‘feminine’ traits (long hair, curvy, etc), so if you consider someone like that who is dressed in a masculine suit to be cross dressing, I’ll go for that.
Although I don’t find it (sexually) attractive, I do like aesthetically the opposite - women going all out to look like men. I have no idea why, but most women who dress like that, and will speak to a man, tend to be very cool.
Bi male. No, I wouldn’t say so, for either.
Straight male, I tend to like the more tomboyish look, but it depends how far they go with it, and it depends what we mean. “Wife beaters” and sweatpants are stereotypically male, and they look bad on just about anything (except for a handful that can pull it off with some slight modifications), but, say, American football jerseys or band shirts + jeans from the men’s department of the clothing store works fine.
