The reason I ask is because I wonder if it makes too much noise & wakes up hearing people?
I think we can pretty much agree that if its brown its flushed-- at least I do so that smell doesn’t keep people awake.
But I don’t flush for pee at night because Im too concerned I’d wake up someone. I stayed with a deaf lady a few times & I would flush at night cause I knew she couldn’t hear it.
I don’t flush at night (unless it’s brown, as you rightly say). Don’t want to wake up the neighbours. Most times, I don’t flush for pee during the day, either. Saves water.
Ewwww. Nothing like a standing bowl of urine in your house. Especially if it’s embellished, as my dad likes to do, with a cigarette butt. Nice image for the next person.
Everything gets flushed in this house, no matter the time of day. This seems like an essential use of water to me; if I wanted to save water, I’d find some other way to do it. Eww eww eww.
I always flush, but then again none of my homes ever had the toilet next to the bed. There were always at least a couple walls between the shitter and the nearest bed.
What’s wrong with you people? You should always flush every time. If you’d make it a habit to flush at night, people would find it a natural sound and wouldn’t even wake up. Sheesh. Flush.
It’s not so much the other people I’m worried about waking up, it’s me. Same reason I don’t turn the light on if I’ve already been in bed. Nothing worse than going back to bed and not being able to fall asleep because your retinas were seared by that blinding 45 watt bulb…
The only time I don’t flush/run the dishwasher is if the neighbor upstairs is taking a shower. The courtesy is reciprocated. Thankfully, no flush wars between us.
At night? I usually end up peeing on the edge of the seat or the floor since Im half asleep so why bother flushing the toilet? There’s nothing in it anyway!
Depends on the water content. I keep myself very well hydrated (8+ pints of water per day), so often there isn’t a noticable difference between flushing and not flushing. Seeing as of the two toilets I could use one shares a wall with a friends bedroom, the other is immediately opposite someone elses. Thus it’s a good idea to minimise noise.
Eeeeeeewwwwwwww… you people don’t flush at night? I’m with EchoKitty on this one: if I wanted to find a way to conserve water, I’d find some other way to do it. I flush, no matter what time of day it is. Of course, since I live by myself in this apartment, I don’t have to worry about waking up anybody! (except maybe my neighbors, but they let their little kids run screaming down the hallway past midnight; that’s another story, though)
Besides, doesn’t flushing right away make it easier to clean the toilet? I don’t think you’d have to be worried about stains that have been left to sit for too long…
When we lived in a house without a master bath, I used to flush. Then the toilet was far enough away from my sleeping husband that I didn’t worry about waking him up. Now that the bathroom is so close to our bed, I don’t flush it at night. Kevin is one of those types who really needs his full 7 hours and, if he does wake up in the deep of the night he has trouble getting back to sleep. Anyway, nobody uses the master bath but us, so when he gets up in the morning and takes his AM pee he just flushes my night deposit along with his morning one. I am careful to shut the lid, though. Sometimes the dog sleeps with us and he’s been known to drink out of the toilet.
