Do you fold your underwear?

Or do you just cram it in a drawer or similar receptacle?

Neither. I stack them flat and all facing the same way (crotch side up, for no particular reason).

When I do laundry, I stack up the just washed ones in no particular order, and pull out the stack of the rest of them from the drawer and place it on top, so that I use them all in an approximation of even rotation.

I voted cram, but it’s more of a half-assed fold.

My underwear, I fold (though the underpants, it’s just one fold down the centerline). Socks, though, I just jam in. I buy a bunch of identical socks at once, so any two will make a valid pair, and when enough have worn out that I can’t make it through a full laundry cycle, I retire them all and buy another big bunch.

Which half of your ass do you leave unfolded?

That’s close enough to folding in my book. It’s certainly not cramming.

Army-style: tight little sausages
Navy-style: tight little bricks
Shitbird style: that side of the floor are clean, this side are dirty, but sniff to be sure.

I sort of half-fold mine, then roll it up.

My first girlfriend, who had been in the USAF (where packing light and tidily was apparently taught), taught me how to fold-and-tuck my briefs into little compact “grenades”, which can then be easily put into a drawer or a suitcase, and which don’t come undone under normal jostling; 40 years later, I still fold my underwear that way.

I wear boxer-briefs, and fold each pair in thirds then half the other way. They end up being a tight little square. They will then fit easily and neatly in my drawer. It takes less than 5 seconds to fold them so it’s not like it’s some huge burden to do it.

And then, if I’m traveling, they will also fit neatly in a suitcase, and I don’t have to re-fold them or anything. I’ve never had them come undone during travel either.

If you count socks as underwear, I just roll each pair into a ball. I assume most people do that. They end up looking like this:

I know some people just roll them partway like this:

But I find that they fit neater if I roll them all the way.

College girlfriend also taught me to roll my socks into balls like those; I eventually decided that that was doing a number on the elastic, so I switched to the “partway roll” style.

That’s a very good reason to not do so. However, for me, I develop holes in my socks long before the elastic runs out. It’s probably just how the socks are made. I don’t think I’ve ever had a sock last long enough for them to stop being elastic. For other people (and/or other socks) that’s probably very sensible.

Need an option for “Don’t wear under garments.”

Same. They’re just as neat as if they’d been folded, but folding doesn’t seem necessary.

I have a basket in my closet where I toss my clean undies and socks. No folding, but I do pair up the socks before tossing.

Now that I think of it, I used to do the “partial roll”, and the elastic in my socks used to wear out, but it doesn’t seem to have done so lately. Connection?

One of the best pieces of ADHD advice I ever got was to stop folding my underwear. They are all the same, there’s a basket in a drawer, it takes seconds to chuck them in there, this is all I can hope for on laundry day.

Did your GF also teach you how to roll socks? I found a YouTube video of an airman showing how to roll socks properly. No lie, he said that it was easier with 2 people. I never would have made it in the AF.

Fold in thirds, then in half to make a square-ish parcel. My wife doesn’t like it when I fold her undies, even though I fold them the same way she does. As for socks, I mostly wear no-shows that are all the same brand with two different color accents. I divide them by accent color and stack. Longer socks (eg dress, hiking, ski) get paired and folded once, then stacked.

She did, but not the technique in that video; the rolled socks which she taught me to “make” looked similar to the first picture @Atamasama shared in post 10.
