I’m fortunate to live in an area with a tremendous number of restaurant options. We only eat out every couple of weeks, and I really enjoy trying new places. Though, if I found myself suddenly able to eat out a lot I might grow weary of the decision making potion of it and establish a favorite, especially for lunch.
On the other hand where my mom lives there is far less variety. Other than fast food and take out places there is a family run Italian place, a Sizzler, and an expensive hotel restaurant that she has deemed too fancy so I’ve never been there. If I lived in a town like that I’d likely be a regular at the Italian restaurant.
My grandparents both had regular spots near where they worked. My sister works in a building with a cafeteria.
When I worked at delis we had lots of people that we saw every day.
In an article about Woody Allen I read that when he’s directing on location he finds a restaurant, chooses a meal and arranges to have that same meal at the same table every day. Directing involves so many decisions, he preferred preventing having to make another one.
Never more than once a week unless I’m on vacation.
If I’m staying on Martha’s Vineyard, I’ll have breakfast at the Black Dog nearly every day. There’s nothing like looking at the ocean while having that first cup of coffee.
The wife is too good a cook to eat out that often, but there is a local diner we hit for breakfast every Sunday(more or less) and a Thai place we frequent about every 10 days or so. Both are excellent but I’d get tired of them if I ate there any more often.
Probably the closest to this for me is a local pizza place. I really like their pizza, they have different pizzas so there’s a variety, and they have a two slices and a drink special. I don’t count how many times I stop there but it could be twice a week on average.
Yep. I’m a regular at the diner/truck stop down the way for lunch.
Gone there every day I’m at work, m-f, for about 8 years now. The waitresses know me by name, I know their life stories, and they know what I like. They bring me my soda, and about half the time will tell me what I’m having for lunch :).
