Our neighborhood has a large pond/small lake. On summer evenings one crazy old codger takes a small boat out to the middle and fishes. I don’t know if he catches anything or if it’s just a place where nobody can catch him. Maybe I should take my toddler and some stale bread there and see if there are little fish to feed. With bread, not with the toddler. That would take a large fish.
Friends of ours have an ornamental pond with goldfish and frogs and water lilies. They have perpetual trouble with the liner springing leaks.
I have a small plastic pond I built a bed around, and always keep a couple of small containers full of water around the house because I love frogs. I have an old 10" metate in the front bed and most evenings I can find a leopard frog squatting in it. Live on a windy prairie ridge so don’t have much problem with skeeters, problem with keeping shingles on the roof though…
Two large (fish/farm) ponds. Lots o’fish. Also, they are wildlife ponds as I live in the wilderness. I was obliged to capture and relocate a three-legged gator last summer. He had returned to my big pond the last two springs and he was getting too big to be so close to the homestead.
