Do you have diverticulitis? What does it feel like?

I got a diverticulitis diagnosis by surprise. Had a CT scan looking for something else, and instead get three or four paragraphs from the radiologist about diverticulitis, an abscess, and my bladder. My doc puts me on Cipro and Flagyl. The Flagyl tried to kill me by kicking an existing arrhythmia into high gear, so I stopped it. Ultimately had ten days Cipro and four days Flagyl. Repeat scan shows diverticulitis improved, but the mass between my colon and bladder has gotten larger.

Never had any classic symptoms such as pain, bleeding, etc. The diagnosis was a complete surprise. Now I’m waiting for a referral to a colorectal surgeon. :sob:

When you do see him/her, keep in mind that some bowel surgeries can be performed Laparoscopically (minimally invasive). As I said upthread, my surgeon removed about 20 cm of my sigmoid colon. He did it with minimally invasive surgery.
