I went to see the doctor today, and she thinks all the pain in my belly is being caused by diverticulitis. I did some research on it when I got home, and I’m not terribly worried (eat lots of fibre, drink lots of water, exercise, etc.), but I’m wondering if anyone else has this and what they do and don’t do for it. Are there foods that set you off, or foods that seem to really help? What things have other diverticulitis sufferers done to improve the health of their pouchy bowels?
My dad had (has) it. What they decided was that a seed or something got caught in a fold in his stomach and became infected. They put him on Cipro until the infection cleared up. Basically, during that time, he had to stay away from foods with seeds or other harder to digest foods (don’t remember what they all are). I remember he was in quite a bit of pain during the whole thing. Hmmm I guess this doesn’t really answer any questions, just thought I’d share.
My father takes ginseng daily. Hell if I know if it works, but he hasn’t had a relapse.
