Granted I haven’t been to a lot of funerals, but I can’t imagine a funeral where the attendees spendthe whole time airing their dirty linen.
When my parents die, they can rest assured that none of their kids or grandkids are going to badmouth them or the family during their funerals. But that does not mean we don’t have some sordid stories we could tell.

For those of you who reported knowing happy families - do you think they are the rule, or the exception? Of the families you know well, what percentage do you consider happy vs not (by my description or your own)?
I think there’s a pretty even mix. I know some people with bad relationships with their immediate families and some whose nuclear family is really happy in its entirety.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell with teenagers, though, partly because they often go through so much shit during those years. My kids are grown now, are very much their own (good) people and have a warm and close relationship with their mother though I appear to be more tolerated than anything else. I’m a little more distant by nature.
You’d be surprised.
