Do you know any ICE or Border Patrol agents?

If so, what are they like? What do they say about their work today?

NOTE: Mods can move this if appropriate - seemed political to me but maybe it belongs in IMHO or MPSIMS.

I used to know a couple of them, but that was in the 1990’s. The Border patrol Guys seemed okay, but not the (then) INS. Basically, the rule of thumb was in order of professionalism- FBI & Secret Service- tied, Other Treasury agents, US Marshals- then a gap then DEA, BAtF, INS, Federal Protective service, etc. The best of the lower rated agencies were always trying to “move up”.

I have a feeling that the current iteration of ICE members are going to be a very circumscribed group, and there aren’t going to be many respondents here.

Now that I think about it, in the 00s I worked with a woman whose son was in the military, and he had a brief (couple months or less) deployment to a Border Patrol station that was indeed experiencing some issues. It’s been a while, so I don’t remember why they were needing the extra help.

I have a friend that was a border patrol agent in the late 90’s, then transferred to Secret Service in the early 2000’s. Was on Cheney’s protective service for the last 4 years of the Bush administration and was on Obama’s detail for 8 years.

His family got tired of living in DC, so he transferred within the Secret Service to a field office and does primarily financial crimes investigations. Still with the agency.

Nice guy, great family.

Only knew one border guy years ago. We deployed together in 2004. He had been border patrol but transferred to be an Air Marshall when they beefed up the agency post-911. He would be retired by now.
