Do you know me?

I recognize you, for whatever that’s worth.
In fact I recognize everybody in here except mudcrutch (no offense).

I don’t remember any specific posts of yours, but I seldom do anyway.

Oh, and I feel invisible around here a lot too. I suspect most of us do at one time or another. Don’t worry about it.

My life is full of ups and down these days. Next week I’ll give a more proper response to some of the comments here.

Today, I have a family emergency. I’'d very much appreciate any thought you have in the thread I linked to.

you work at a hospital. Try keeping your suit on in the pool in our complex too, dude. many, many complaints…

(Damn slow internet dial-up!) Sorry about your circumstance there, Y. If you want to go out for a beer when you have time, let me know.

I know you yojimboguy. I know you real well. I know Quetzalcoatl, too.

I had you mixed up with yojimbo for a long time, but I found the thread about the woman you were interested in at work intriguing (sorry that things didn’t work out), and your photo in that thread was memorable because you look a lot like one of my favorite teachers from high school. Condolences on the situation with your aunt. :frowning:
I am another person who tends to forget the particulars of who posted something unless it’s something particularly remarkable, strange, or dramatic. I like it that way, because that way I know I treat everyone equally, rather than holding grudges or favoring certain people.

I’ve always thought your posts were pretty well thought out.

IMHO, during my short existence here on the SDMD, if you are regularly posting and no one is quoting you, that may be as good as it gets.

It seems some of the bigger “names” on this board know each other and have most likely gotten to know each other over the years via email or other extra-SMDB means.

I hope not to put words into your mouth here, but my guess is the three ways to become well known on this board are to: earn a lifetime achievement award by consistently posting good ideas over a long period of years; consistently post absolutely brilliant, memorable stuff over the short run; or consistently post items that are non-good. (not recommended)

I recognize your posts as that of a poster whose opinion I’ll actually consider. Which, given how stubborn I am…well, that’s a bit of a feat there ;).

Now do you know me? :stuck_out_tongue:

I recognize your name, yojimboguy. I recognize almost every name in this thread (the exemption being spathiphyllum, whose name I will recognize from now on). Then again, this is probably a sign that I am on the boards way too much.

I can’t recall individual posts from everyone here (probably half of you, at best), I’ve talked to fewer of you anywhere besides the boards, and I’ve met even fewer of you in real life. But yes, I recognize your name.

Hi lel (whom I just met in Las Vegas two weeks ago)!

Okay, Ringo is the only one I’ve met in real life in this thread (not on the boards, I’ve met many others around the boards in real life) so far. (Hi, Ringo!) One is pretty few!

There’s one way to have people recognize your username – meet them in real life. So, who wants to meet up?

So I dawdled over letting the thread go quietly into the night, because to revive it implies more than a touch of ME ME MEism. Of course, so did starting it. So sue me, I’m having an emotionally cantankerous year. The family emergency that I mentioned earlier in the thread ended with the death of my aunt. That’s an aunt, uncle and parent all dead since January.

Anyway, to respond more directly, thanks very much for your kind comments, even those who didn’t know me. I really feared I’d get slapped around for starting the thread in the first place, and I also thank the many Dopers who chose not to reply with flaming arrows.

I’d have to toss a coin as to which creeps me out more, that I said all that stuff, or that you retained it. But we have a ChiDope connection, so I have a moderate degree of confidence that you’re not stalking me. :stuck_out_tongue:

What kind chair do you have? My advisors told me I had the coolest possible chairs.

I’m in the USA, yojimbo is (or was last I heard) in Ireland. I’m a middle aged chubby Irish looking guy, as my dad was an Irish immigrant. Yojimbo’s opions don’t seem so off the wall that I fear being mistaken for him, and I hope he feels much the same. DISCLAIMER: I have not read all that many of yojimbo’s posts, so it’s possible I have not been exposed to some evil yojimbo underside. :stuck_out_tongue:

I know you. I remember the content of your posts waaay more than I remember mine.

You’re our native son, right?

I definitely recognize your name, and I bet if I thought really hard I could think of details from your posts. Unfortunately, I used up my thinking really hard capability allotment for the day on the question of “if I have an 8 hour tape, how many 43 minute long shows can I tape on it?” which took me nearly 5 minutes to figure out first thing in the morning…by mid-afternoon it might have only taken 90 seconds

I met you at ChiDope. How are you?
