Do you know who Beyoncé Knowles husband is?
I’m asking this because I didn’t…and my girlfriend found this very surprising and weird that I didn’t know. She asked me where I’ve been the last few years.
I wasn’t aware that knowing Beyoncé’s husband was such common knowledge apparently.
Anyway, after you’ve replied, the answer is:

Do you think this is common knowledge (I.E. most people would/should know this)?
Do you think it’s weird or surprising to find someone who didn’t know this?
I just don’t follow celebrities lives very much, I guess.
I know that Jay-Z is married to Beyonce, but pther than the fact that he is in some way involved in thr Hip-Hop industry, that’s the only thing I know about him.
I know who Beyonce is married to as he’s (arguably) more famous than she is. Jay-Z is big into sports and, as far as I can tell, they’re also pretty friendly with the Obamas (if you can be “friends” with the First Family). So they pop up on my radar from time-to-time even though I don’t much care for celebrity’s private lives and I don’t listen to rap or poppy R&B ever.
We need more information to accurately answer these questions.
Do you read Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, or People? If yes, then it should be common knowledge and it surprising that you don’t know. From your post, I don’t think you read gossip websites, but their relationship is mentioned in multiple IMDB news blurbs at least once a week. If you don’t read those magazines/websites (or watch their TV equivalents like TMZ, Entertainment Tonight, etc), then why would you know?
And do you follow basketball? If yes, you surely must have heard someone mention Jay-Z’s ownership of the Nets and marriage to Beyonce by now. If you don’t follow basketball (or listen to rap), your exposure to Jay-Z is probably limited.
I knew, but then I read a lot of celebrity gossip (a guilty pleasure - I am not proud) and there was this time a while ago when he ran into someone in the subway (she didn’t know who he was) who turned out to be Ellen Grossman, a rather famous artist.
It’s fairly common knowledge in my age group (late 20’s) and below but I wouldn’t say anyone should have this piece of trivia stored away in the back of his or her head. There are far more interesting and important things to dedicate one’s time to.
Weird or surprising? I don’t know. Depends on how old you are, I guess. If you’re somewhere around my age, it’d show some degree of disconnect with popular culture, which some might perceive as a little odd.
Nope, don’t read those websites or watch the news (I don’t own a working TV)… so I just use my computer for all things TV (which is usually just shows and movies–not news).

Yes, I knew, and I don’t read celeb stuff much, but they are both really famous. I think the first time I knew they were an item was when Jay headlined one of the nights at Glastonbury, and Beyonce was dancing in the wings.
Yes, I too would be surprised if someone didn’t know who Beyonce was married to. You’d have to live in a very tight and windowless cocoon to not soak up this little piece of knowledge by just living in the US of A.
I find that surprising that some people don’t know who Jay-Z is, but then again, I follow a lot of music.
I’m pretty much an ignoramus when it comes to sports figures. Like I was at a charity benefit and a buddy of mine had to tell me that the guy speaking was Mark Sanchez, quarterback for the Jets.
