If you check out the article gonzomax linked, they cite “his well-documented meltdowns at awards shows when he didn’t win what he expected” as well as a quote where he called himself the “voice of this generation” as a few examples.
I loathe South Park, so, to spare me the unpleasantness of viewing I show I don’t enjoy, could someone explain this “fish sticks” thing to me?
Fish Sticks, when spoken the way it was in that joke, sounds like “Fish Dicks”. As in, “I like to put fish dicks in my mouth.” A joke that fourth graders would LOVE, but I really didn’t buy the rest of the country finding it funny…
Really? I told one of my co-workers the joke this afternoon, and it went viral in a matter of minutes just like on the show. I thought the episode what funny and the fishsticks joke is hilarious. Not because the joke itself is so funny, it’s people’s reaction when you “get them” and and they get it. Which is why Kanye not getting it was so fucking funny.
Wow, aren’t we precious. You’re curious about the show, yet you couldn’t possibly bare being subjected to it or anything related to it for the few seconds it might take to find out the premise on your own? If you loathe it so, why would you even open up a thread discussing it?
I have no interest in the show and I am not in any way curious about it, but I keep seeing references to a joke on the show not only here but several places on the internet. Not wishing to remain culturally ignorant I asked a question. If I had been able to find this out on Wikipedia trust me, I wouldn’t have burdened you with my presence. Somehow, going to a thread talking about fish sticks and South Park seemed to be the logical place to become enlightened about a joke referencing fish sticks that was seen on South Park.
As my question has been answered I will now be departing the thread so I will trouble you no further.
Well, it was started by 4th graders, which was precisely its charm. I don’t think the writers meant us to find it uproarious in itself, but rather to simply be amused by how funny a bunch of kids found it… and then the characteristically stupid and childish adults of the SP universe, especially the celebrity comedians/host, who were all parodied for being way too willing to cast it in their own lame comedic styles.
Oh come down off the cross. You could’ve asked without offering your opinion, but you chose not to. I wouldn’t go into any Cafe Society thread and basically say the topic sucks in the first place, but if I did I sure wouldn’t get all high and mighty when called out on it.
Broomstick may be bi-curious.

Doesn’t everybody?
I wonder…is South Park the first to use the “fishstick” joke?
Funny episode.
