Do you like high heels?

Poll coming. Basic question: do you like high heels? For women, do you like wearing them. For men, do you like women to wear them.

I’ll answer for me: I like wearing heels. I prefer 4" because it keeps my weight on the ball of my foot, which in turn prevents me from putting much weight on my heels, which in turn keeps my feet from pronating, which then in turn keeps my knees from hurting. So I am in far less pain at the end of a night of dancing if I’m in heels. Plus I’m really short so they make me 5’6"!

I have a neuroma in my foot so I can’t wear them because it’s too painful, but I would like to be able to since some of them are beautiful.

I’ve never worn high heels, even when I was younger and thinner. I’ve never been interested in putting myself though the slightest pain for fashion. I’m all about comfortable shoes and clothes, simple hairstyle, no makeup. Of course part of that is sheer laziness, and part is an underlying “it’d be like putting lipstick on a pig” mentality, but mostly it’s for comfort. I can see it for other women who wear it (all of that, including heels) well, just not me.

Love 'em to bits! I never, ever wear flats anymore now that I’ve lost a lot of weight. I either wear 3 inch heels or motorcycle-style boots with about 2 inches of heel. The closest I get to flats are when I wear my running shoes out for a quick trip to the store.

That said, about half of the heels I buy work out for me- I am not great at selecting a pair that will be comfortable worn all day at my (admittedly desk) job, or a night on the town. Because my feet are wide. So currently I have a favorite pair of black heels, one favorite pair of brown, one each so-so pairs of black and brown, and a mostly unwearable pair of black.

I don’t just not like them, I find them actively unattractive. My wife doesn’t really like wearing them, which is just fine by me.

Oh hells naw. No spikes higher than a kitten heel; a chunky boot heel can be maybe, MAYBE 2 inches.

Part of it is that I have balance issues, even in tennies I trip more often than most people. Because of that, I fear tall shoes as they increase my chance of both tripping (due to an altered center of gravity and less traction) and of damaging myself when I do fall.

Another part is that, as stated above, I refuse to cause myself pain in order to look good. High heels hurt my feet to wear, even if I don’t happen to fall.

The third part is that I don’t like the way I feel when I’m in heels. My ass feels as though it’s thrust out for public display, and I am very, very conscious of the fact that, if I were attacked, I would be unable to run away or fight.

Nope. Never never never.

MHO, they make a woman’s ass and legs look really good. Have read Opal’s comment, think she’s an exception to the general rule though in that I don’t think most women enjoy wearing them - think most women who wear them do so attempting to accentuate the certain features mentioned. (Arrived at this idea having heard from women off-and-on over the years that they’re uncomfortable to wear and esp walk in.
They look uncomfortable too, don’t blame any woman for choosing not to wear them.)

Female and I don’t like them. I’m already 6’1", I don’t need shoes that make me tower over people even more.

I’m a man and I loathe them. Every time I see a woman tottering along on high heels I can’t help visualizing her falling off the damned things and injuring themselves. I think this is true for anyone with any empathy.

I’m a guy. I do like how women can look in heels, though I recognize that a lot of them aren’t good for the wearers.

That said, my wife simply doesn’t wear them. She has bad ankles, and is absolutely convinced she’ll sprain or break an ankle if she even tried to wear heels of any sort.

Penn Jillette, who is 6’ 6" moved to Las Vegas a number of years ago. He claimed the main reason he did so was showgirls, most of whom are 6’ and above, and who were overjoyed to date a man that tall.

He said the most beautiful words in the English language are "Ohhhh…I could wear heels with you!

I love the look of high heels, but I have trouble wearing them now that I haven’t worn them regularly for a few years. Anything higher than 3 inches is a bit of a crapshoot, anything lower is golden. I do agree that women who teeter around on heels too high for them are unfortunate looking.

I want to clarify that I never wear shoes that are uncomfortable, even my heels. I am totally comfortable in my favorites and they don’t hurt a bit. The only reason my so-so ones are so-so is because they are a little too narrow and tight, not because they’re heels. I love and am very comfy in heels.

Man and I"m thoroughly indifferent. I can’t say that I ever notice what kind of shoes another person is wearing unless they are extremely flashy.

I don’t really care one way or the other if women want to wear them, but I think they’re stupid. Completely impractical.

I don’t think they’re the most beautiful words in the language, even tho I’ve heard them quite often (I’m 6’4").

And FTR, most showgirls are not 6’ tall or taller. Some are, but in my experience it’s not even close to half. 5’10" maybe, but not 6’.

Yeah, I live in Vegas, too.

I am a man and I feel guilty about this, but I think a woman looks so sexy in heels.

I can run in heels pretty well, FWIW.

Something else entirely: It ain’t the heels, it’s the woman in the heels.

Horrible things. I also don’t like stockings, jewellery, more makeup than a basic dusting, and cosmetic surgery. The whole artifice thing is what bothers me.

Having said all that, there are rare occasions when someone has the right look and the right blend of all of the above that it works even for me. But that is about 1 in 10,000.
