Hawt!
Woah, this thread is still active! Well, I’m happy to see that it’s become a lovefest rather than what I was expecting. DianaG, we could go shopping together.
Holy boom-chikka-wow-wow. Nice.
Those are indeed fabulous boots.
Got pix of you wearing them? (Someone had to ask.)
^^^^Pole Dancer^^^^
So yeah, I love my heels. I don’t wear heels when I’m going to be walking all day and I don’t wear cheap or poorly designed heels. One thing I’ve noticed about my pole heels/stripper heels is the heel is angled differently and placed closer to the ball of the foot than regular street heels. This makes the pole shoes much more stable and I can dance a lot longer in them. Because of the heel placement, my center of gravity is much better balanced, so less weight is on the ball of my foot. That results in less pain overall. In fact, my 6" pole heels don’t hurt at all. My 4" street heels sometimes do.
I train both ways – barefoot and in pole shoes – so that my leg and foot muscles don’t get “stuck” moving in only one way.
For everyday at the office, I rarely wear heels higher than 3", precisely because street shoes are designed so differently from stripper heels.
I spent four years as a stripper… I wonder if that contributes to my liking to wear heels?
I don’t know, but I wanted to tell you that I still have the old “Ask the Stripper” thread bookmarked and occasionally review it from time to time. I am not a stripper, but I’m learning pole from a bunch of strippers and I have to say… I love them dearly.
Anyway, thanks for your contributions to that thread. I learned a lot from you (And who was the Doper who started that…Indygirl?)
I don’t like wearing high heels and I don’t particularly care for the way they look - a pair of Merrells is way sexier on a woman.
I have a pair of heeled logging boots that I like though. It’s easier to get around in steep country with a 2-3" heel though I’ve no idea why, seems counter intuitive to me.
I’ve always loved high heels, and over the years I’ve worn some crazy ones. I don’t wear them nearly as often as I used to (not sure why), but I still have a closet full.

An awesome pair of heels can make me feel like a rock star and put a swagger in my step. And that’s an awesome thing.
Yep, that was me. My love of high heels is definitely related to stripping. It’s been great fun dancing in a variety of insanely high heels over the years. In fact, without stripping I’d never have had the opportunity to wear so many cool shoes. I’d feel a little silly wearing lucite platforms to the grocery.
And much thanks to you for that thread!
I’m totally with ya on the swagger.
I recall watching an interview with Katey Sagal, the actress who played Peggy Bundy. The interviewer asked her if she came up with the Peggy Bundy walk. Her answer was basically, it was all about the shoes. She didn’t feel like Peggy Bundy until she put those shoes on.
I find the current fasion of women wearing super high heels and pants that go over them almost to the floor ridiculous looking. You can tell they’re wearing heels because of their stilted walking but with no heels showing they look like robots. I actually find all the really high heeled shoes ridiculous looking and most people look clumsy walking in them. I don’t understand all the women I see shopping at the mall stumbling around in stiletto heels.
Mid height heels look nice and allow women to walk more naturally.
I’m a man and I don’t care for them. They look whorish, and I don’t see the point (heh). First time I considered this question, but I’m certain my answer is accurate.
Life is a joke, lighten up and dress up on occasion to get in on it lol. I wear cowboy boots on occasion, are they practical? No. But they make this clippity clop noise and I get an excuse to walk like the hero in a 70’s B-movie.
Well if the girl is cute they look expensive whorish… wait what’s bad about that? Never been insulted by a woman telling me I looked like a gigolo. Kind of hurts my feelings now that I think of it…
I said no, even though there are exceptions. It’s just that most heels look exactly the same to me, and they just look painful. And if you can tell that the feet are squished, that’s aesthetically displeasing.
I do make a point of complimenting anyone who actually wears cute heels, though. Well, assuming that there is an appropriate time to do so–I’m not going to just run up to a stranger or anything.
I haven’t worn them in decades and glad for that. I do have an emergency pair strictly for posing purposes, that is, walking from the car holding onto someone’s arm for dear life - into a restaurant or party. I DO feel different, all dressed up, made up, hairstyled, and in heels, but sadly those times are fewer and fewer.
I don’t really care for them. Especially the stripper style ones, that make a girl look 20 cm taller than she is.
Yup! They make me stand up straighter, make my legs look awesome, even make my boobs look bigger, and they’re not uncomfortable if you choose heels which actually fit.
I wouldn’t wear them for walking long distances and don’t if I’m going to have to walk even, say, half a mile to the tube; they’re not usually that good for that kind of movement - that long stride that you do when walking distances more than a couple of minutes long.
If women are expecting to be able to walk that far in heels, especially stilettos, then they’re going to be disappointed. It’s easy enough to take a pair of shoes with you that are suitable for walking home in. This is also partly because, as someone else said earlier, heels are not so good in gutters or snow (though some heels are better in snow than some slippery flats).
I don’t really like spiky heels, but this is partly because it’s rare to find shoes which have spiked heels and an otherwise comfortable shape. However, I do have two pairs of shoes which have spiked heels and are fine for walking around the office in or dancing.
One of them I call my ‘happy-happy-fuck-me-pink-stilletoes.’ That’s how I feel when wearing them.
When I wear heels it’s like I’m in some fairy-tale where I can actually dance really well. Hell, I got invited to join a dance troupe last time I went out dancing while wearing my retro red spiky heels - sadly, I don’t have time for that dance troupe and the dog has now eaten those heels.
Dancing in trainers is really damn hard by comparison.
Inapropos IMO. I like cowboy boots, though I don’t have a pair that fit me now, and if I did, I’d be compelled to dress like Travis Bickle, but they are fun.
So chicks like to have the pimp swagger? Heels do make you walk different – but I as a “male” do it by switching shoes every day, and also pretending I’m Joe Pesci on a bad hair day (which means he’s mad about something). Guys can do it too,.
