Some films release a soundtrack album consisting of music composed for, used in, or sometimes just serving as inspiration for the film. Some of these soundtrack albums also include snippets of dialogue from the movie.
Do you like it when soundtrack albums include these snippets? I’m sure that for a lot of people, it really depends on the movie, on the music, and on how the snippets are used, but I’m wondering about your general preference.
Are there any particular soundtrack albums that you feel made particularly good use of dialogue snippets? Any albums you feel were completely ruined by them?
Personally, if I bother to get a soundtrack album, then it’s because I like the non-original pop/rock songs used in the film, and would prefer to listen to them sans dialogue as a sort of compilation album, completely ignoring the fact that they were used together in a movie. I don’t often listen to soundtracks that consist mostly of original instrumental scores, but when I do I definitely don’t want to hear dialogue.
