I live one block up from New Hampshire Avenue in DC near the Maryland line. By official decree, New Hampshire Avenue is where all Marylanders must go to check their emails and to text, the law also insists that while they are doing this, they must drive 15 miles over the speed limit and must not yield to pedestrians under pain of death.
We live on a fairly busy street that runs at a 45° from an extremely busy 4-lane highway. We’re 4 houses up from the intersection. This is also a rather shitty part of town, so there’e s lots of dogs running loose, people outside screaming at each other, idiots “working” on their cars (which consist of revving the engines for long periods of time at all hours of the day and night), and tv blaring out open windows all day and all night. There is Nothing. But. Noise. All. Day. Long. I absolutely hate living here. But, our rent is less than half what comparable homes in the neighborhood go for, so until I get a better paying job we’re stuck.
We live on a quiet little street one block away from and parallel to one of the busiest thoroughfares in town. There’s never much in the way of traffic … unless there’s a road-blocking accident on said busy thoroughfare, which results in our street becoming basically a parking lot.
