Do you notice/remember people's eye colour? (poll)

I don’t notice people’s eye colour.

Actually, I tend to. I’ve got grey eyes (gotten a lot of comments about them, in that they are very pale grey and appear nearly white when the sun hits them). My parents have both got blue eyes, with my mother’s a somewhat darker shade. My best (girl) friend has dark brown eyes, her boyfriend (one of my best friends) has pale blue eyes, Øyv, one of my other best friends, has huge hazel brown eyes. My immediate boss has brown eyes, while my management boss has green, all the three guys I work with have brown eyes while one girl has blue and the other a very pale green.

For me this is on par with hair colours. Not important, but I remember it.

I don’t notice either. My theory is that you can’t look into and at something, at the same time.

edit. Like a window. If you’re looking through it, you probably won’t notice if the glass is old and rippled, or safety glass, or whatever. You have to shift your focus to do that.

Battleship gray eyes. I have seen them twice in my life. In the food line at the dorms in college, and on a flight attendant a few years later.

Any female Doper with those should contact me at her earliest convenience.

I’m female, and I have no idea what anyone’s eye color is. I could guess and maybe be right, but that’s only because there’s not really that many eye colors out there.

What **Rascal’s Mom ** said.

I have dark brown eyes.

I don’t notice eye color either. My wife sometimes makes fun of me for not noticing things about people. I just don’t. If I’m talking to someone and they walk away, if you were to ask me their eye color or what shirt they were wairing or something, I won’t be able to tell you. I think I’m more of a teeth person. I do usually notice when a person has nice teeth.

I only notice eye color if the color is unusually pure. But I’m turned off if the color is due to colored contacts. I can only remember those with pure-colored eyes. Come to think of it, I can’t remember seeing anyone with truly green eyes. The deep, natural colors that I have seen have been blue and dark brown.

Heh, me too. Actually my eyes are kinda hard to describe. Mostly grayish-blue, but with hints of brown toward the pupil. Depending on conditions they can have quite different look. I used to bug people with that asking them what is the color of my eyes. Usually they take a look and after long pause start “Umm, I think they’re gray/blue/brown/any combination of these”.

As to the OP, I usually notice, but not remember. Can tell if they were bright/dark, but exact color beats me. Of course some are characteristic enough to remember.

Not that I care much. Colored contacts are so popular now.

Nope, not at all. I mean, NOT AT ALL. I had to specifically make myself pay attention to my wife’s eye color, in fear of losing MY eyes.

I couldn’t tell you anyone else’s eye color, except my own and Paul Newman’s (brown, right? ) I don’t notice shoes either, nor if someone’s outfit “matches.” I’m just horrible at it. If my wife asks me if two items of clothing “go together,” I sigh, roll my eyes, and try my best. She actually knows that I have trouble with this, but respects my opinions anyway, for some reason…

I don’t know my own either, but I would know the general tone of people’s eyes (blue, brown, mixed). I do remember a couple of people’s because they are unusual (brown with flecks of green, piercing blue, etc.).

Mine are green but not vividly so. Typo’s are hazel - brown with hints of green.

I have no clue what color my kids’ eyes are.

Wait, that sounds awful! I do, really, just don’t know how to describe it: They’re sort of a muddled combination of brown and gray, neither one nor the other. If I have to say what color they are, I say they’re hazel.

So no, I really don’t pay much attention to eye color unless it’s something striking.
