A conversation with some friends prompted a discussion about computer porn and how people organize it. I must ocnfess that during my porn surfing days I was much less organized than the rest of my friends. All of the pictures went into one directory, all of the movies in another. I deleted it all some years ago and don’t really surf anymore. After all, I worked for an ISP that hosted a half dozen porn servers. After you’ve seen so much, none of it really interests you. Or me. You might still be interested.
One of my friends, a single guy, seems to be the most organized porn person I’ve ever seen. He said that his pictures are divided by subject. Each picture is renamed to describe the content and put into a subdirectory. He’s got everything from Asians to whatever might start with the letter Z. His collection of pictures (he says) is in the 15,000 range. Movies are organized the same way, but subject, then title.
Anyone out there organize thier porn like this, or do you have your own system? If so, what is it?
I don’t have any visual porn on my computer now, but when I did, it was organized. The photos were organized according to the race of the girl(s) and a loose approximation of the activity (girl alone, couple, group, cumshot). Cartoon porn was organized in Disney, Other Characters and Unknown. All pictures were renamed to aid my memory.
All the videos were in one folder, but named to describe the contents.
I have simply tried to keep photos from any one series in the same folder.
I have often how people in the visual arts keep graphic data organizied. If I am looking for the photo of the blonde girl on the red motorcycle should it be under B or M? How can I be sure I do not have any duplicates?
I used to be an avid porn surfer when i first discovered the web. I’ve definitely passed into the “nothing does it for me or even shocks me anymore category”
that pretty much happened the moment i had to actually BUILD a porn site for a client - there is only so much flesh you can look at! (As a side note, i gave my brother the “courtesy login” i got as a 16th birthday present. )
When i was downloading though i had the same kind of system as priceguy - all nicely divided into overall categories then specific kinds then (if applicable) specific girls.
I may no longer download porn, but i use the filing system that i created to now manage my music and work projects

Yeah, I organize my computer porn. I have separate file folders for my pictures of naked PC’s, my pictures of naked iMac’s, my ‘retro’ pictures of naked VIC-20’s …
Same for me. I never saw any porn that I didn’t think was sick or stupid. In fact, my husband has given up trying to get me to watch porn because I just comment on how stupid it is.
By using a thumbnail viewer. ThumbsPlus is a good one. There are fields where one can associate keywords with image files and then search the keywords to locate a sought image.
I religiously organize all my porn, I even have a dedicated Porn Drive. It’s a 40gig hard drive in an external USB enclosure. Has it’s own fan and everything. This is primarily so that I can limit access to it and assure that nobody (read: my kids) can stumble upon it or seek it out, and because it was consuming so much disk space and interfering with gaming.
The 40gig is almost full. My upgrade plan involves the purchase of a 2nd (they’re stackable!) USB enclosure. When I get that, I’m going to move the 80gig hard drive in the server into it, move all the movies off of the 40gig drive onto the 80, and put a new, mirrored hard drive in the server (something 80+ gigs). This should give me space for another 2 years, at my current aquisition rate.
I save porn purely from a collection standpoint. It’s erotic value for me at this point is greatly diminished, but I’m an obsessive collector. I keep pictures based on their uniqueness more than their outright sexual appeal. But I’m not too choosy, I actually keep a lot of what I see. I pay for very little, there is just soooo much free stuff out there.
It’s all organized by categories. These grew from the single, catch-all into about 30 or 40 designations based on content. As long as you don’t name specific people, it would be pretty hard to think of something sexual that I don’t have a picture of.
No porn here - but if I did have, I’d organize it. Now that I’ve finished converting my CDs to MP3s I’m trying to figure out if I want them organized by song name or by artist. Decisions… Decisions…
Pics are divided by “fetish” (asian, cheerleaders, asian cheerleaders, etc.), then by name and, if applicable, photo shoot.
Movies are divided by size - <12 MB, 12-50, 50-100, 100+. Hate to think I have a full hour of video coming my way then end up with a 30 second clip, you know?
And 12,000 pics, huh? Decent sized collection.
And DeVena, I find it’s easier for me to go by artist. YMMV, especially since I suck at remembering song titles.
Gee, I just stick it all in the same folder. Pictures, movies, and everything. I usually just leave the same name on the file that it originally had, unless it’s completely non-descriptive. And even then, sometimes.
I organize my boyfriend’s porn, if that counts. Otherwise I just keep finding it all over the place on the computer and that’s caused me embarrassment on more then one occasion.
