I’d like to get rid of my microwave and get a good toaster oven, in fact. For now, I have a slotted toaster and an oven for things that don’t work in the slots.
I only have two electric things in my kitchen, the fridge and the microwave. I dumped all the other plug-in stuff when I moved last year. I hand-grind my coffee, use a French press, and pre-butter my bread and then toss it on the skillet for a couple minutes. I really like having clear counters and a quiet kitchen at cooking time.

We own neither a toaster nor a toaster oven. We do own a dual oven in which the top oven has a ‘toast’ setting. It makes toast every bit as well as any other device I’ve ever owned for the purpose.
