Do you own an etui?

Tam, Fen, Epee

Sometimes I think if a puzzle designer ever used foil instead of epee the world would come to an end.

Only a crossword enthusiast would know that a four-letter word with the clue “Melville novel” is neither “MOBY” nor “DICK”, but “OMOO”.

There are a number of tricky ones. For instance Leslie Caron was in the movies Gigi and Lili. So just getting one or both of the "i"s is no help.

ETA: although if you get one “i” you know the other one is there.

“ALEE” occurs in nearly every crossword I’ve ever done.

I will avow (or aver) that all of the above is correct. I can never decide whether the end to “Mauna____” is Loa or Kea, nor whether somebody is an ass or an oaf.

I wait patiently every week for the NYT Sunday puzzle, as it at least presents some challenge.

I have a couple (quilter, spinner, weaver, &c).

ELEE is very common too.

Whilst ASEA, I was ALEE when I stabbed SMEE with an ECRU SNEE.

Did that happen on the BRAE near the LOCH, while you were wearing a TAM on your PATE?

I’m sure you mean “Three thousand” times better.

MMM!

Seems like you just can’t say “Ave” to an Eli anymore without him trying to give you an olla.
