Do you own items or wear jewlery with your birthstone?

July is ruby. It was my mom’s birthstone.

I already have a ruby ring! This can be the one. Thank you.

awesome!!!

My birthday is in March, and a few Christmas’ ago my boyfriend got me a aquamarine ring that I wear every day. Last Christmas he gave me a pair of aquamarine earrings to match that I wear several times a month. I really like the color of the stone, although I have noticed that it needs a lot of cleaning, otherwise it fades to such a light colored blue that it’s barely discernible as blue.

I was born in September and have a sapphire engagement ring; completely unrelated though, as I just wanted a hardwearing blue stone. I have a pair of sapphire earrings which were a gift, perhaps they were birthstone related. However, I am on the lookout for a zircon/imperial topaz and garnet for my 2 daughters to make right hand rings for me which I can pass down to them at some point.

Those of us born in June are kinda screwed when it comes to birthstones. I have both real and fake pearls and wear them only occasionally because I’m not a big fan of pearl - with the exception of one pair I do wear regularly: a set of gold hoops with black pearl dangles. The Divemaster bought me those when we were in Hawaii.

I would love to get my mitts on some real alexandrite, but it’s impossibly rare. That, and I imagine its cost would put diamonds to shame. A bit outside my budget, alas.

Mine is emerald and I am very fond of those. I recently got a ring with 3 little but nice emeralds on it from ebay. There is also such a thing as a “red emerald,” also called “red beryl” and “bixbite” that is found only in Utah and is incredibly rare. I managed to get my mitts on a couple of very small stones and am planning to have them made into something, not sure what.

I have a ring with my birthstone; the ring belonged to an ancestor but had lost it’s diamond, and the stone was one my grandmother bought as a loose gem when I was born. It made sense to set the stone into the ring when I was 16, and I love this ring, but I think I will one day buy a diamond to replace it since the ring really would look better that way. Perhaps I’ll set the birthstone in another ring - I don’t know. It’s all for sometime in the future anyways!

I’m a January girl.

I have a gold and garnet ring that belonged to my paternal grandmother (I was born the day before her bd). It tends to get worn when I put on my grown up clothes and wear gold jewelry.

I also have a silver filgeree and garnet ring that was a gift from my late SO. Until recently, I wore it daily.

Personally, I like the dark red garnet. If I had more garnet pieces, I would wear them most of the time.

I too have an April birthday, and I don’t like diamonds. My dislike isn’t political, though, but aesthetics. They’re just so…boring, like somewhat shiny glass. My mom’s birthstone is opal. That’s much prettier.

I was born in November too. Topaz IS ugly! Yuck.

My mom and I were both born in December, and she wears a lot of turquoise, which made me like it quite a bit too. Blue zircon? What’s that all about.

I was a May baby and I love emerald (and I also have one of those little figurines!). My first pair of piercing earrings were (fake) emerald. Now I wear an emerald ring that was a gift from Mr. S. Now that I have my third set of holes, I wouldn’t mind a pair of emerald studs.

When I was a kid, I was given to understand that it’s bad luck to wear opals if you were not an October baby. I love opals too, and I rationalize wearing them with the fact that my mother, sister, husband, and two good friends were born in October. Unfortunately the only opal I have right now is an opal inlay ring that I seldom wear because it doesn’t really look good with my “good” wedding jewelry and the emerald ring.

Here’s a pic of my little figurine.

I’ve never owned a sapphire. Wouldn’t it be luverly?

Although I have lots of lapis lazuli and love it. LL is the awesomest. If it’s the genuine good stuff and not the inferior quality rocks pawned off under that name, that is.

I’ve heard that the exception is that it’s okay if someone born in October gives you the opal.
